🎉From August 17th to 18th, 2025, the Hubei Allwin Rice New Variety Observation Conference was held enthusiastically at the Hubei Allwin Academy of Agricultural Sciences and achieved a complete success.

✨The highlight of this conference is the new variety of "Indica-japonica Hybrid Rice" developed by us. After years of efforts by our Hubei Allwin Breeding team, we have overcome the breeding difficulties under the "indica but not japonica" model and achieved significant breakthroughs. A batch of national approved varieties represented by B2.586, CFY.88 and CFY.118, these indica-japonica hybrid combinations show vigorous growth, well-developed root systems, large panicles with many grains, strong stress resistance, and obvious super-high yield capacity. With the large-scale promotion and application of indica-japonica interlacing in production, it will further promote the development of grain production in China and ensure national food security. As the backbone of the national seed industry, Hubei Allwin has successfully utilized the hybrid vigor between indica-japonica subspecies through an innovative approach of restoring the vigor between indica and japonica subspecies, thus creating a vast wave of rice! A breeding key brimming with technological power has ushered in a brand-new era of epic farming!

👍The magnitude of hybrid vigor in rice depends on the size of the genetic distance. Theoretically speaking, the greater the genetic distance, the greater the hybrid vigor. Indica-japonica hybridization is a distant hybridization between subspecies, and the hybrid offspring show stronger heterosis and higher yield potential. The heterosis between indica-japonica subspecies is stronger than that within indica-japonica subspecies (indica-indica intersection or japonica japonica intersection). Therefore, taking advantage of the heterosis between indica and japonica subspecies has always been regarded as an important way to further increase rice yield. In the past, the biggest obstacles to the direct utilization of hybrid rice between indica and japonica subspecies were low seed setting rate, excessive plant growth, overly long growth period, poor grain fullness and low seed production yield. After years of efforts by breeders, the "indica-japonica bridge" technique was adopted. Through continuous selection of the best from the best, the favorable traits scattered in different individuals of indica and japonica rice were concentrated on the same individual, forming a relatively stable population, and the direct utilization of the interspecific hybrid advantages of indica and japonica rice was achieved.

✅The main characteristics of "indica-japonica hybrid rice" are as follows:
1. Large panicles with many grains;
2. Good productivity;
3. Good resistance: Resistant to lodging, heat, and diseases... ;
4. Good quality of rice;
5. The stems are thick and strong.

👍This kind of variety can overcome the problem of hot weather very well. We have conducted trial planting in regions such as Pakistan and Thailand, and this type of variety has performed well.

🤗We hope to better promote our rice to the world and ensure that people all over the world have enough to eat and eat well!
