Quality and Yield: In the 2023-2024 growing season, the variety was included in the regional trial for early-maturing medium-rice varieties under the Hubei Seed Industry Innovation Testing Consortium. The rice quality, as determined by the Food Quality Inspection and Testing Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (Wuhan), showed the following characteristics: brown rice yield rate of 75.1%, milled rice yield rate of 58.5%, chalky grain rate of 6%, chalkiness degree of 0.5%, amylose content of 17.9%, gel consistency of 81 mm, alkali digestion value of Grade 6.5, transparency grade of Grade 1, and length-to-width ratio of 4.2—meeting the Grade I standard specified in the agricultural industry standard "Quality of Edible Rice Varieties." Over the two-year regional trial, the average yield per mu was 545.4 kg, representing a 1.3% reduction compared to the control variety Huanghuazhan. Specifically: in 2023, the yield per mu was 554.7 kg, a 4.3% decrease relative to Huanghuazhan; in 2024, the yield per mu was 536.1 kg, an increase of 2.0% over Huanghuazhan. In the 2024 production trial, the average yield per mu was 554.9 kg, representing a 1.7% increase over the control variety Huanghuazhan.
Characteristic traits: This is a medium-season, conventional indica rice variety of early maturity. The plant type is moderate. The leaf blades are long, wide, and upright. The grains are elongated, with colorless lemma tips. The maturity appearance in the later stage is good. In regional trials, the plant height was 127.6 cm, with 221,000 effective panicles per mu; panicle length was 25.6 cm, with a total of 148.1 grains per panicle, of which 117.0 were filled grains, yielding a filling rate of 79.0%. The 1,000-grain weight was 24.03 grams. The entire growth period lasted 114.7 days, 3.2 days longer than the control variety Huanghuazhan. Disease resistance assessment showed a comprehensive blast index of 3.4, with the highest blast damage rating at Level 7, indicating susceptibility to blast disease; a white leaf blight rating of Level 7, indicating susceptibility to white leaf blight; and a sheath blight rating of Level 7, indicating susceptibility to sheath blight. Heat tolerance was rated at Level 5, and cold tolerance was also rated at Level 5.
Key cultivation points: 1. Sow at the right time. Generally, sowing is carried out from late May to early June. For open-field cultivation, the seeding rate is typically 2.5–3.0 kilograms per mu. Before sowing, it is advisable to soak the seeds in imidacloprid solution. During the seedling stage when the seedlings have 3–4 leaves, promptly check and replenish any missing seedlings. 2. Implement scientific weed control. Weed promptly five days before sowing, three days after sowing, during the stage when seedlings have three leaves and one heart, and during the tillering stage. 3. Manage fertilizers and irrigation scientifically. Apply sufficient base fertilizer, apply topdressing early, increase the application of phosphorus, potassium, zinc, and silicon fertilizers, and appropriately limit nitrogen fertilizer application. Generally, apply 10–12 kilograms of pure nitrogen per mu, with a nitrogen-to-phosphorus-to-potassium ratio of 1:0.5:1. During the seedling stage (1–3 leaves), keep the field surface moist; after the three-leaf stage, maintain shallow water and irrigate frequently. During the peak tillering stage, promptly drain the field to control tillering. From the booting stage through heading and flowering, maintain deep-water irrigation; later on, alternate between wet and dry conditions until the rice turns yellow and matures. 4. Control pests and diseases. During the seedling stage, pay attention to controlling rice thrips. In the open field, focus on controlling blast, bacterial blight, and sheath blight, and also take precautions against rice false smut, stem borers, and brown planthoppers.
Suitable range: Suitable for medium-season rice cultivation in regions of Hubei Province other than southwestern Hubei. Not recommended for areas where blast disease frequently occurs or has previously occurred severely.
